Lady Ingenuity Magazine: What are some of the highs and lows of being a writer in the public eye?

Stacy: The highs for me would be the opportunity to
share my work with others.I love writing but I mainly do it for the public. It wouldn ’t make sense to write and not share it with the world.Another high is the satisfaction I get from following my dream. I entered this business on my own without handouts or contacts. I am very proud of what I accomplished.I also enjoy being a role model (least I ’ve been told)for other writers.

The low for me is the jealousy you encounter in the business. Many people pretend to support you while they are really jealous of your accomplishments.It ’s terrible to learn that someone you thought was on your side really isn ’t.This has taught me to stay at arms-length with people in this business.

7/24/05- Divas of the New Millennium sold out at the Harlem Book Fair 2005! Heather Covington of Disilgold confirms that " Divas of the New Millennium " sold like hot cakes to passersby!

8/1/05- Stacy learns that " Divas of the New Millennium " is an International Best Seller

9/2/05-BIG NEWS The Amber Communications Group Inc. Family and Disilgold begin a nationwide book donation for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Stacy helped with contacts in Houston. The goal is to donate 30,000 books with the help of authors, bookstores, publishers, media consultants and other literary professionals.

12/17/05- Stacy will be featured in interviews and reviews for Delores Thornton (Black Refer) and Blackexpressions.com 2005 this January!

12/21/05- Stacy is up for two 2005 Marguerite Press Awards! The nominations are for Best Website and Best Blog

12/21/05- Stacy is set to be interviewed and featured in Rose Beaver's Priority/Publishing Newsletter. The exclusive will also feature a review of " Divas of the New Millennium ". Coming soon!

1/30/06- Stacy is making arrangements to be featured along with book reviews in Thabiz Magazine and SistaDivas Magazine.

3/5/06- Stacy launches " In the Light " her new interview station! Stay tuned to learn about the fascinating folks Stacy interviews!

5/30/06- Due to personal and professional issues Stacy has decided not to continue the " In The Light " site. Future literary interviews may be hosted on this site periodically.

6/06- Stacy learns that her Latino love story will be published in Fall 2007.
